Get found in search, and cited in AI answers

Your customers are asking assistants the questions they used to type into Google. Codexlava makes your site reachable, readable and accurate, so that whatever is answering them gets your facts right.

We are developers, not a reporting dashboard: every finding comes with the fix, and we can ship it ourselves.

The short answers

More questions
What is the difference between SEO, AEO and GEO?
SEO makes you findable in a list of search results. AEO, answer engine optimisation, makes you the source a direct answer is drawn from. GEO, generative engine optimisation, makes you readable and quotable by the models behind AI assistants. The work overlaps heavily: clean HTML, accurate structured data and plainly stated facts serve all three at once.
How do I get my business recommended by ChatGPT?
You cannot buy or guarantee a recommendation from any AI assistant, and anyone selling one is selling nothing. There is no placement to purchase and no ranking lever to pull. What you can do is make sure assistants can reach your site, parse it, and find your facts stated plainly. That is what decides whether you are quoted accurately or not at all.
Can you guarantee a position in AI answers or on page one?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Nobody controls search positions or assistant answers. What we can do is fix what is measurably broken, show you exactly what changed, and re-run the same queries after thirty days so you can see the direction. A guarantee here would be a signal to walk away from whoever offers it.
How do you measure AI visibility if there are no rankings?
By asking the questions your customers would ask, in several phrasings, across major assistants, and recording the answers verbatim: whether you appeared, who did instead, and which sources were cited. Results vary between runs, so we report direction over time rather than a score. A single number would imply a precision that does not exist.
What is included

Five layers, one piece of work

The labels overlap more than agencies admit. Accurate structured data and plainly stated facts serve all of them at once, which is why we do not sell them separately.

01 / 05 Can search engines reach and understand it?

SEO

The unglamorous layer that decides everything above it. A site that canonicalises every page to its homepage is telling Google not to index those pages at all, and no amount of content fixes that.

  • Crawlability & indexation
  • Canonicals & sitemaps
  • Core Web Vitals
  • Titles & headings
  • Internal links
  • Local SEO
02 / 05 Is it the answer, not just a result?

AEO

Answer-first writing and FAQ markup, so a direct answer or AI Overview can draw from one plainly stated passage.

  • Answer-first copy
  • FAQ schema
03 / 05 Can an AI assistant read and repeat it?

GEO

Crawler access, llms.txt, content in the raw HTML and one consistent set of facts the models can trust.

  • AI crawlers
  • llms.txt
  • Entity clarity
04 / 05 What are assistants actually saying?

AI tracking

Your customers’ questions asked across the major assistants, answers recorded word for word, repeated over time.

  • Mentions
  • Citations
  • Accuracy
05 / 05 Does the rest of the web agree?

Social & off-site

Share cards that make links travel, profiles tied to the site in schema, and listings that match character for character.

  • Share cards
  • sameAs profiles
  • Directory consistency
What we check first

The layer most sites fail at

Usually in ways that take an afternoon to fix — and that no amount of new content will fix while they are broken.

  • Access

    Crawler access

Whether search and AI crawlers can reach you at all. Plenty of sites block GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot by accident through a blanket rule or a security plugin.

  • Indexation

    Canonicals

Whether your pages are telling Google to index them, or quietly pointing at the homepage instead.

  • Rendering

    Content in the HTML

Whether the content is in the raw HTML, or only appears after JavaScript runs and most crawlers have already left.

  • Entities

    Fact consistency

Whether your phone number, address and hours agree across your site, Companies House and every directory. Three numbers means an assistant picks one.

Search changed

The answer now arrives before the click

A search used to end in a list of links. Increasingly it ends in an answer, and the only thing that reaches the customer is whatever source the model chose to quote.

~30% of UK searches now show an AI overview
53% of UK adults say they often see AI summaries in search
1.8bn UK visits to ChatGPT in eight months of 2025, up from 368m a year earlier
8 vs 15% of US searches led to a result click with an AI summary, versus without one

UK figures: Ofcom, Online Nation 2025 (December 2025). US figure: Pew Research Center, browsing data from 900 adults (March 2025). Market context, not Codexlava results.

How it starts

Audit first, then scoped

There is no sensible way to price the work before seeing what is wrong. Some sites need one afternoon of fixes; some need content written every month.

  1. Day one

    Send us your domain

And the questions your customers ask before they buy. That is the whole brief.

  2. Audit

    Check what machines can see

Crawler access, indexation, canonicals, rendering, structured data, speed and fact consistency across the web.

  3. Audit

    Ask the assistants

Your customers’ questions, in several phrasings, across the major assistants. Every answer recorded word for word: whether you appeared, who did instead, and which sources were cited.

  4. Hand-over

    Five findings and the files

Ranked by impact and effort, with ready-to-paste robots.txt, llms.txt, JSON-LD and rewritten titles. Yours whether or not you carry on with us.

  5. Day 30

    The same questions again

Re-run on the same queries so the direction is comparable. Search and AI both move slowly; this is the first point a difference is worth looking for.

Checkable right now

We did it to our own site first

There are no client results on this page yet, and we will not invent any. What you can check instead is this website: everything on the list was done here, and two of the files are one click away.

  • AI crawlers named and allowed in our robots.txt robots.txt
  • The facts about us stated once, in our llms.txt llms.txt
  • Every page carries schema that matches what is visible
  • A share card on every page, so links travel
  • Homepage Lighthouse mobile performance: 98
Is this right for you?

Who this is for, and who it is not

If you are in the second column, we will say so on the first call rather than sell you something you do not need.

Good fit

A good fit if…

  • SMEs and professional services whose enquiries come from being found
  • Startups losing ground to competitors being cited instead
  • Anyone whose traffic is falling while rankings look stable
  • Businesses whose details are wrong or inconsistent across the web
  • Teams who want the fixes handed over, not just a list of problems
Probably not

Not the right fit if…

  • Anyone wanting a guaranteed position in AI answers
  • Anyone after hidden text, cloaking or keyword stuffing
  • Anyone wanting reviews or credentials invented to fill a page
  • Anyone expecting a visible difference inside a fortnight
  • Sites with no real content, where the honest first step is writing some
What you receive

What you have at the end

You approve each stage before the next one starts, and you own everything you paid for.

  1. Five findings, ranked

The ones that matter, ordered by impact and by the effort each takes.

  2. Ready-to-paste files

robots.txt, llms.txt, JSON-LD blocks and rewritten titles, not just advice.

  3. Verbatim assistant transcripts

What each assistant said about you, word for word, and which sources it cited.

  4. What we could not check

An explicit list, and why, so nothing is implied that was not tested.

  5. A 30-day recheck

The same queries re-run, so the direction is comparable.

FAQ

Questions worth asking us

Send us your domain. We will tell you what search engines and assistants can and cannot see, what they are getting wrong about you, and what is worth fixing first.

Why is my traffic falling even though my rankings are stable?
Often because the answer now appears above the results. When a search engine or assistant answers directly, the click never happens, which is why impressions can hold while sessions drop. The response is to be the source that gets cited rather than the tenth blue link, which means structured, plainly stated, verifiable content.
Do AI crawlers need separate permission in robots.txt?
Yes. They read robots.txt like any crawler but use their own user agents, including GPTBot, ClaudeBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and Applebot-Extended. Many sites block them accidentally through a blanket rule or a security plugin. Allowing them is a decision, not a default, because it means assistants can read and quote your pages. We show you the change and you choose.
What is llms.txt and do I need one?
It is a plain-text file at your site root describing your business in language a machine can use directly: what you do, who you serve, where you work and how to reach you. It is an emerging convention rather than a mandated standard. It takes about twenty minutes to write and only helps if every line in it is true.
Does structured data actually help with AI search?
It helps because it states facts explicitly instead of leaving them to be inferred from prose. Both search engines and assistants read schema.org markup. Two rules apply: only mark up what is visible on the page, and only mark up what is true. Schema describing invisible content is cloaking, and schema describing things that never happened is fabrication.
Does social media affect AI visibility?
Indirectly, yes. Assistants and search engines build their picture of a business from the whole web, so profiles that match the site, listings with the same details, and links people actually share all help them recognise you as one consistent entity. A proper share card on every page also decides whether a posted link looks worth clicking. Posting more does not, on its own, make an assistant mention you.
Do you only report problems, or fix them too?
Both, depending on what you want. Every finding comes with the file or copy to fix it, ready to paste. Because Codexlava is a development team, we can also make the changes ourselves, on WordPress, Shopify or a custom site, rather than handing a list to someone else.
How long before this makes a difference?
Search and AI both move slowly. Expect roughly thirty days before anything looks different, so there is little point checking the week after. What you get immediately is a clear account of what was broken, what was fixed, and what assistants currently say about you, recorded word for word.
Is this a one-off project or an ongoing retainer?
It starts as an audit, because there is no sensible way to price the work before seeing what is wrong. The audit gives you a ranked list of findings and the files and copy to fix them. Whether that becomes ongoing depends on what we find and how much you want to hand over. We scope that together after the audit.
